Runelands is a Tactical-RPG set in the land of Oscasenna. The kingdom of Oscasenna is ruled by the Oscars, whose ancestor Tarvis Oscar united the various tribes of the Axehead Peninsula ages ago. Oscasenna is a wealthy and powerful country, but what really sets it apart from its neighbors is the presence of hundreds of stone monoliths covered in strange runes, scattered all over the peninsula. These Runestones come in many shapes and sizes, some arranged in patterns while other stand massive and alone, but all of them share two important characteristics: they are both impossibly ancient and completely unbreakable.

Unbeknownst to all but a few, Oscasenna actually consists of two lands connected by the Runestones. There's the mortal realm of course, the one that is right outside your window, but it is the other realm that is the source of Oscasenna's power. This realm, known as The Runelands, exists right alongside the mortal realm. The two lands share many of the same geographical features, but have little else in common. The Runelands are populated by strange creatures called Valtir, which are too numerous to catalog. Most of these creatures do not need food, water or sunlight like humans to thrive; instead they live off the essence of the Runelands itself, known as Vindr. Legends say that Tarvis Oscar was the first to travel between the two realms by using the Runestones, and that he used what he learned there to defeat his enemies. Today, certain humans, known as Speakers, have learned to absorb and channel Vindr from the Runelands, giving them amazing power and abilities. A handful have even been able to follow in Tarvis Oscar's footsteps and visit the Runelands themselves! The Speaker's are the true power behind Oscasenna, and are the reason it's never been conquered by a foreign power.

Until now...
